What does it mean to grow, to become greater in your own life? It starts with having a clear vision—a real sense of what you want to achieve. That’s what I call greatness. When you wake up in the morning, ask yourself: What am I going to do today? What will I accomplish? How can I change my days, and my life, to get closer to the life I dream of?

Most of us don’t feel great about our lives. We might not even like our daily routine. But we rarely ask ourselves the right questions. When was the last time you wondered, “What would my ideal day look like?” or “What’s one small thing I could change today?” You don’t have to change everything at once. Start with one thing today, then another tomorrow, and so on.

A simple habit that can change everything is to do a weekly review—maybe every Sunday. Look back at your week: What went well? What did you put in place? What would you like to remove or add next week? Just asking yourself these questions and making this kind of ritual can truly change your days and your life.

Right now, I’m sitting in a cozy café in Seoul. I’m here for a few weeks, just exploring the city. I love it—there are so many coffee shops, and the people are incredibly kind and respectful. This place inspires me to talk about growing, about figuring out what’s right for you.

Let’s say you want to travel the world, move to Korea, learn Korean, become a pro surfer, play basketball at a high level, or even see an NBA game in the US. What do you need to do? What can you start doing right now? Maybe you could start saving a little money each week to make it happen.

Too often, we make excuses. These excuses might make us feel better in the short term, but they stop us from acting. They keep us stuck. If you want a different life, you can’t keep doing what you’ve always done. You have to take action.

Excuses are just ways to justify not moving forward. We tell ourselves, “It’s not my fault,” but the truth is, you can do it. There’s always a way to act, always a way to do things differently. If you keep making excuses, you’ll never get what you want.

There’s no perfect moment. The best time is now. There’s a famous Chinese proverb:

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. — Chinese Proverb

If you had planted that tree 20 years ago, it would be tall and beautiful today. But if you plant it now, in 20 years, you’ll have a wonderful tree. It’s the same with your life. You need to act. The best time to grow is today—not tomorrow, not the day after, but now.
