How to Transform Your Life With Tiny Daily Habits

Improving yourself is not about making huge leaps overnight. It’s about getting a little better every day. Think about your daily habits: taking a shower, brushing your teeth, eating your meals. You don’t question whether you should do these things or not—they’re automatic. They’re so deeply woven into your routine that you just do them without thinking.
What if you could make self-improvement just as automatic? The secret is to treat your growth like any other habit. Start by writing down what you want to improve. Use a notebook or a notes app on your phone. For example, maybe you want to learn 50 words in Japanese, 60 in Russian, or 110 in another language. Or perhaps you want to pick up a new programming language, or learn more about the history of your city because you dream of becoming a local tour guide.
Let’s say you live in Adelaide and want to become a guide there. You’d need to learn about the city, its vineyards, national parks, beaches, and all the hidden gems. Make a plan: spend 20 minutes each day researching and taking notes. Use apps like Apple Notes or Google Keep. You could even record short videos about the places you discover, just like I do.
Organize your findings by category. Over time, you might build a website or offer your knowledge as a service to a tourism group. The key is consistency. If you dedicate just 15 minutes a day, after a month you’ll have over four hours of focused work. That’s a huge amount of progress, especially when you realize how much time we all spend on things like showering or waiting for the water to heat up—often more than 15 minutes.

Everyone has time to improve their daily life. Becoming an expert in something doesn’t require hours every day. Just a quarter of an hour is enough. There are no excuses. It’s all about building the habit.
I truly believe this, and I share it with you from the heart. If you want to go further, I invite you to check out my self-help book, my podcast with El, or subscribe to my private mailing list. These resources are designed to help you invest in yourself and keep growing, one small step at a time.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. — Aristotle
