How to Transform Your Life With Tiny Daily Habits

Improvement is not about making huge leaps overnight. It’s about those small, steady steps you take every single day. Think about your daily habits: taking a shower, brushing your teeth, or even eating. You don’t question whether you should do them or not—they’re automatic. They’re so deeply rooted in your routine that you do them without thinking.

What if you could make self-improvement just as automatic? Imagine if, instead of waiting for motivation or a big push, you simply built progress into your day, like brushing your teeth.

Here’s how you can do it: Start by writing down what you want to improve. Use a notebook or a notes app on your phone. Maybe you want to learn 50 Japanese words in a week, or 60 words in Russian, or pick up a new programming language. Perhaps you want to learn more about history because you dream of becoming a tour guide in your city.

For example, I live in Adelaide. If I wanted to become a tour guide here, I’d need to learn more about the city. My plan would be simple: every day, I’d spend 20 minutes researching and taking notes using an app like Apple Notes or Google Keep. I might even record a short video about what to see in Adelaide for newcomers—vineyards, beautiful parks, national parks like Morialta, Belair, Grange, Henley, Maslin Beach, and so on. I’d organize everything by category.

After a while, maybe I’d build a website or a community, or offer my services to a big tourist group or the city’s tourism office. Just 15 minutes a day adds up. After a month, that’s over four hours of focused work—almost four and a half hours, to be exact. Even if you’re only researching, that’s a huge amount of time well spent.

Think about it: taking a shower, getting undressed, waiting for the water to heat up, washing, drying off—it all takes more than 15 minutes. We all have time to improve our lives, even if it’s just a quarter of an hour a day. If you want to become an expert in something, give yourself that daily quarter of an hour. There are no excuses. It’s just a habit to build.

I truly believe this, from the bottom of my heart. That’s why I’m sharing it with you. If you want to go even further, you can always find more resources and ideas in my self-help book or listen to my podcast with El.
