Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “Wow, this person inspires me. They seem to have it all together. I wish I could live like that”? Maybe you even imagine yourself in their shoes, living their lifestyle, achieving their kind of success. But then, reality kicks in. You tell yourself, “I’m not ready. It’s not the right time. I just changed jobs. I have too many expenses. I just moved. I can’t start this project now.”

Let’s be honest: these are just excuses.

If you really want something, you’ll make sacrifices. You’ll say no to some things and yes to others. It all comes down to priorities. If your top priority is buying a house, then don’t be surprised if starting a business ends up at the bottom of your list. But if launching your own project is truly your number one goal, everything else should come after that. Stop putting things off, telling yourself, “I’m too tired today, I’ll do it tomorrow.” There will always be something else tomorrow. There will never be a perfect moment.

Procrastination is just another way of saying, “I’m not ready to take responsibility.” The only person at fault is you—not your circumstances, not other people. If you want something passionately enough, it will become an obsession. And when it’s an obsession, you’ll always find ways—little tricks, hacks, or workarounds—to make it happen, no matter what.

The limits you think you have are often self-imposed. Maybe you blame your upbringing, your background, or your environment. But these are just boundaries you’ve set for yourself. You have to break out of that box—think differently, think beyond what you’ve always known. If you keep telling yourself, “I can’t do this because of where I live, or because of this or that,” then maybe it’s time to change your environment. If your dream is truly your top priority, you’ll move mountains to make it happen.

Sometimes, you see people living the life you want. Maybe you dream of opening a coffee shop or running a certain kind of business. Don’t just dream—do it. Don’t let your dreams stay dreams. The first step is to act.

Distractions are everywhere. Your phone, your computer, endless notifications—they all pull you away from what matters. Turn off notifications. Put your phone on silent. If your computer is a source of distraction, consider using a device that only lets you write, like an e-ink tablet, or even lock your laptop away for a while. The point is, your project is more important than any device. Sometimes, you have to go to extremes to protect your focus.

Of course, I’m not really suggesting you put your laptop in the fridge (that would be a disaster for your computer!). But you get the idea: do whatever it takes to keep yourself on track. Your tools should help you, not hold you back.

It’s easy to look at others and think, “They’re lucky, they have something I don’t.” But the truth is, they took action. They didn’t wait for the perfect moment. There’s a famous Chinese proverb:

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

— Chinese Proverb

If you plant your tree today, in 20 years it will be magnificent. But you have to start now.

When you see inspiring people, remember: what you see is just the surface. But if their life makes you dream, maybe it’s a sign you should try it for yourself. Don’t just wonder “what if”—take the first step and see if it’s really for you. You’ll never know until you try.

When your life project becomes your number one obsession, you’ll always find a way—even if it seems impossible from where you are now. Maybe you don’t have money. Then take a student job, work nights, or do odd jobs to save up. It might not be your dream work, but it’s a way to fund your real goal. Sometimes, you have to do what it takes to get where you want to go.

Don’t let your dreams stay dreams. The first step is to act.

I’m with you all the way. I know you can succeed, but you have to take action. Stop waiting for the stars to align. The right moment is now.
