Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “Wow, they inspire me. They seem to have it all together. I wish I could be like them”? Maybe you admire their lifestyle, their achievements, or the way they seem to make things happen. But then, almost instantly, you tell yourself, “I’m not ready. It’s not the right time. I have too many expenses, I just changed jobs, I just moved, I have bills to pay. I can’t start that project now.”

Let’s be honest: these are just excuses. If you really want something, you’ll find a way. You’ll make sacrifices. You’ll say no to some things and yes to others. It all comes down to priorities. If your number one priority is buying a house, then don’t be surprised if starting a business or launching a new project ends up last on your list. But if your top priority is your dream project, then everything else comes after that.

Stop putting things off. Telling yourself, “I’m too tired today, I’ll do it tomorrow,” only leads to more delays. There will always be something else that gets in the way. The perfect moment never comes. That’s how procrastination wins.

The truth is, the only person responsible is you. Not your circumstances, not your background, not your education. If you want something passionately, it becomes an obsession. And when it’s an obsession, you’ll always find hacks and ways to make it happen, no matter what stands in your way.

Most of the limits we face are the ones we set for ourselves. We say, “I can’t do this because of where I come from, because of my education, because of my situation.” But these are just self-imposed boundaries. You have to break out of that box. Think differently. If you really want to achieve something, you have to be willing to make sacrifices and changes—even if it means moving to another place or completely changing your routine.

If your dream is to open a coffee shop, don’t just dream about it—do it. Don’t let your dreams stay dreams. Start with the one that matters most to you right now.

Distractions are everywhere. Your phone, your computer, endless notifications—they all pull you away from what really matters. Turn off your notifications. If you have to, put your phone on airplane mode. If your computer keeps distracting you, try using a distraction-free writing device, or even lock your computer away for a while. The point is, do whatever it takes to focus on what’s important to you.

Sometimes, I joke about putting my computer in the fridge just to keep myself from getting distracted. Of course, I don’t really recommend that (it’s not great for the computer!), but the idea is clear: your project, your dream, is more important than any device or distraction.

Remember, the people you admire are just showing you their highlight reel. You don’t see the struggles, the sacrifices, the late nights. But if their life makes you dream, maybe it’s time to stop dreaming and start doing. You’ll never know if a certain lifestyle is for you until you try it.

There’s a famous Chinese proverb:

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

— Chinese Proverb

Don’t wait any longer. Start now. In twenty years, you’ll be glad you did.

If you think you don’t have the money, find a way. Take a student job, work nights, do whatever it takes. Maybe it’s not your dream job, but it’s a stepping stone. Even the founders of Airbnb started by selling cereal to fund their idea. Sometimes you have to take on jobs you don’t love to finance the life or business you want.

I’m with you, heart and soul. When your life project becomes your number one obsession, you’ll always find a way to make it happen—even if it seems impossible from where you are now. There are always hacks, always tricks to get past the obstacles.
