Have you ever thought about how the stories you tell yourself shape your life? Today, I want to talk about stories—not the ones we read in books, but the ones we create for ourselves, the ones that inspire us to do what we truly want.

Imagine waking up and not just going through your usual routine, but turning your day into a story you love. When I say “story,” I mean something that makes you feel alive, something that excites you. Every day should make us feel a little thrill, a little tremble of excitement. We should love what we do, and the best way to do that is to create a story for our day—a dream day, the kind of day you wish you could have all the time.

Here’s a challenge for you: from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, imagine what your ideal day would look like. Maybe you start with a breakfast you love, or you head to a café for your favorite latte. If you work for a company, maybe you picture yourself starting your workday in a way that feels good. If you’re a freelancer, maybe you see yourself working from a cozy coworking space or from home.

Think about your breaks. Would you go to the gym? Is that part of your perfect day? Maybe you’d rather cook at home, or perhaps you’d enjoy a meal at a restaurant. In the evening, do you want to read, or do something else that relaxes you?

I invite you to actually plan out this dream day, from start to finish. Write it down in a notebook—list out each step, one through ten, or however many you need. Then, live out this day, following your plan as closely as possible, at least for one day.

Afterwards, take a moment to reflect. Did this day make you truly happy? Did you feel more fulfilled, more motivated, more energetic? Were you proud of how you spent your time? Did you get more done, or just feel better about your day?

If you live near the beach, maybe you want to swim every morning. Would that boost your happiness? If so, add it to your story. The goal is to find out what really makes you tick, what lifts you up, and to bring more of that into your daily life.

The stories we tell ourselves are the foundation of our reality.
