The Power of Small Steps

How to Make the Right Choices?

Why your daily rhythm matters more than you think

In life, there are many different paths and things you can achieve. Sometimes, you might set your sights on a big project, something important that you want to start today. You plan it, you picture what you want to accomplish, and you set a clear goal. You even give yourself a deadline—maybe in a month, you want to reach that milestone. Then you ask yourself: what do I need to do each day to get there? Every day, you do a little bit, and at the end of each day, you see the results you wanted, or at least you get closer to them.

But there’s another way people often go about things. You do a bit here and there, whenever you find the time. There’s no real routine, no real discipline, and your days aren’t well organized. This can work for some, since we’re all different, but the risk is much higher that you’ll give up or slow down. Your rhythm drops, and you start doing your project less and less—maybe once a week, then once every two weeks. When you lose that frequency, you also lose motivation. The less you do, the less you want to do.

On the other hand, the more you care for something, the more you grow attached to it. It’s like taking care of a dog that’s been hurt or abandoned, or a plant that isn’t doing well. If you water that plant every day, you start to love it. The same goes for your project. The more you look after it, the more passionate you become. You might even get obsessed with it. Every day you work on it, new ideas pop up. You think, “Oh, I could also do this, and that, and maybe even more.” You get better and better, and your results come faster.

If you see even half of your expected results after a few weeks, it boosts your motivation. You realize it’s worth it, so you keep going. This creates a positive cycle: the more you do, the more you want to do, and the more passionate you become. Keeping a steady rhythm—doing a little every day, even just an hour or two—locks your project into your mind. You get more ideas, you want to do more, and your project grows. The effect can be amazing, and you’ll achieve much more than you thought possible.

So, that’s what I suggest: take care of your projects every day, even if it’s just a small step. Over time, you’ll see how much you can accomplish.

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.
