How to Multiply Your Projects by Four Without Burnout

My current desk setup as of 2016. I am a wedding and portrait photographer and have always believed the space you do work in has a big impact on the quality and kind of work you complete. I have been refining my workspace since I was in high school and I am really happy where it is now! How to Multiply Your Projects by Four Without Burnout - Photo by Carl Heyerdahl on Unsplash

When you invest in yourself and set a clear goal, something shifts. You suddenly feel full of energy. Having concrete goals—ones with a real outcome and a deadline—changes everything. For example, if you decide, “In two weeks, I want to achieve this specific result,” you give yourself a target to aim for. Then, you can ask yourself: “What can I do every single day to get there?”

It’s like climbing a mountain. You don’t just look at the summit and hope you’ll get there. You figure out how many kilometers you need to cover each day. Step by step, you climb higher. In two weeks, you’ll be much closer to the top—or maybe even standing on it.

This approach works in every part of life. When your goals are vague, you end up saying things like, “I should do this, I should do that,” but nothing really happens. Your days get messy. You do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but you don’t know exactly what you’re aiming for, or how to measure your progress.

But when your goal is clear, everything changes. You know that every morning, you’re going to spend one hour on that specific thing. Nothing can stop you. Every morning, you show up and do it. That’s what makes all the difference.

The best time to take action is today. Not tomorrow, not next week—today. There’s no point in putting off what you want to do. Life is waiting for you, and it won’t wait forever. The clock is ticking. The best moment to start is now.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”
—Mark Twain

So, what time is it for you right now? What are you going to start today? Life is short, and it’s waiting for you to make your move. Go for it.
