How to Move Forward Without Waiting for the “Right” Moment

Deciding your own life means making choices and taking action. The worst thing that can happen to you isn’t making a mistake—it’s doing nothing. Being stagnant, stuck in fear, and not acting is what truly holds us back. It’s normal to be afraid of making decisions, especially when we don’t know what’s coming. The unknown is scary because we can’t predict the consequences or where it will lead us.

But sometimes, a single decision—a seemingly small choice—can completely change the course of your life. Imagine deciding to go out for coffee one morning. You meet someone, and that person becomes your partner, your spouse, or your best friend. Your life shifts in ways you never expected. Or maybe you decide to take a walk, and something unexpected happens—good or bad—that changes everything. Life is full of these moments, and while some are extreme, most are just part of being alive.

I’m not here to scare you. Quite the opposite—I want to wake you up, to make you aware of how much is possible. Most of the time, positive things happen when we act. Taking action is like refueling yourself. If you do nothing, nothing will happen. If you don’t like your life, don’t expect it to change if you keep repeating the same things. You have to try new things. You have to act.

We’re often afraid of making mistakes. Yes, sometimes a decision can change your life for the better—or not. Maybe you lose money, maybe you waste time. Time is the most important thing, even more than money, which comes and goes. But even if you “lose” time, you learn. Every experience is a learning experience. Later, you might realize that what you learned opens new doors you never imagined.

Life is like building with Lego blocks. Each action you take adds to your structure and helps you move forward. That’s why I encourage everyone not to just be an employee, but to try freelancing, or even start your own project. It doesn’t have to be a big startup—just a personal project, something you do on your own. For me, becoming a freelance IT engineer and data scientist changed everything. I could travel, work remotely, and choose my projects. Sometimes companies want you in the office, sometimes not. It depends on the job, but if you have the chance, create your own path. Don’t let your studies or your past define you.

Even if you try something and realize it’s not for you—like becoming an influencer or switching careers—you’ve learned something. You’ve gained new skills, especially soft skills like communication. Writing, for example, is something I love, and it’s a skill you can always improve. Life is full of opportunities, but you have to grab them. Luck isn’t real; it’s about being ready and saying yes when opportunities come.

It all starts with your mindset. A positive mindset opens more doors. You’ll say yes more often, be more open to new things, and people will be drawn to you. Even your posture matters. If you look closed off, people won’t approach you. But if you’re smiling and open, people will want to connect. This positive energy changes everything.

Your state of mind affects your body language, and vice versa. Don’t sigh and complain, “If only I had known…” Instead, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” Take responsibility for what happens to you. If you’re responsible, you can find solutions. If you always blame others, you’ll never improve or avoid the same problems in the future.

For example, if trains are always late and it stresses you out, maybe look for a job where you can work from home, or even move to a country where public transport is reliable. If that’s not possible, plan ahead—take an earlier train to avoid stress. Sometimes it means leaving two hours earlier, but if it gives you peace of mind, it’s worth it.

Change is possible. Positivity and mindset matter. Organize your days, rethink how you see events, and keep moving forward. Life is about learning, acting, and growing.
