Today, a scooter gave me quite a scare. It zipped by so quickly that it made me reflect on how speed shapes our daily lives and work. Let’s talk about the importance of acting fast and what it can do for you.
I’m writing from a lovely spot in Sydney called Woolloomooloo, not far from Darlinghurst and Elizabeth Bay. The city is quiet, the stars are out, and it’s the perfect moment to share a thought that’s been on my mind: the value of time.
Time is the only resource we can never get back. If you lose money, you can earn it again. If you gain weight, you can lose it. Even if you lose a house, you might find another. But when you lose an hour, it’s gone forever. That exact moment, with the same sky and the same feeling, will never return.
When you learn to act quickly and manage your time well, everything changes. The more you do, the more you accomplish, and the faster you become. This multiplies your experiences and achievements. You get to see what works and what doesn’t, what you love and what you’d rather avoid.
Tonight, as I sit in the park at midnight, I realize how much I’ve done today. I finished three training sessions, worked my regular job from 8 to 6, shot five promotional videos, kept writing my book, cooked, went shopping, walked, chatted with my mom for almost two hours, texted my girlfriend, and now I’m recording this message. I even had time to chat with people at my coworking space and wander around the supermarket. It’s been a full day, and I feel great about it.

Accomplishing a lot gives you a sense of pride and fulfillment. It changes your life. The more you achieve, the more you learn, and the more opportunities you create for yourself. You can add new skills to your resume and open doors to new jobs. It’s all upside.
I encourage you to try this approach. The more you get done, the more hope and confidence you’ll build. Over time, you’ll become more experienced in your field. For example, I’m now a senior developer, even though I’m not that old yet. It’s not about bragging—believe me, I’ve struggled and worked hard. For years, I pulled one or two all-nighters every week. This isn’t about comparing ourselves to others. We’re all different. What drives me is the feeling of getting things done. If I don’t, or if I nap during the day, I feel off. Even waking up late makes me feel like I’ve missed out.
Everyone has different needs. Some people need more sleep, and that’s important. If that’s you, go to bed earlier. Listen to your body and learn what works for you.
But one thing is certain: getting things done changes everything. It’s an amazing feeling, and I wish you the very best on your journey.
