How to Make Progress Without Waiting for Perfect Timing

Staying still is one of the biggest dangers we face. When you stop moving, you lose time, you start doubting yourself, and you miss out on new solutions. The fear of making mistakes can freeze you, but in reality, mistakes are how you learn and grow. Progress comes from action, not from endless thinking.

When you make mistakes, you learn something new. You might feel a bit proud because at least you’re moving forward. Maybe you didn’t do something perfectly, but you can bounce back, try again, and see real progress. It’s a bit like breathing—if you stop, you stop living. When you’re stuck, doing nothing all day because you’re afraid of making the wrong choice, you’re not really living either.

Think about planning a trip. You want to go on vacation, maybe book a hotel, buy a plane ticket, but you’re not sure if it’s the right time or if it’s a good idea to spend the money. So you do nothing. You procrastinate, you think, but nothing concrete happens. Even if you spend too much, at least you’ve taken action and moved forward.

That’s the message I want to share: always take action. Doing things is the best way to learn. When you’re stuck, you’re just treading water. You can spend a week thinking about going to Mexico, to Cancun, or somewhere else. You check flights, see they’re expensive, decide to wait, look at hotels, regret not booking, check Airbnb, and in the end, nothing happens. That’s the real problem. Afterwards, you feel bad, like you’ve wasted your time.

So, what can you do today to move forward? Write something. Take a course. Learn a new skill. Pick up a new language, study geography, photography, marketing, or even medicine if you want to enroll in university abroad. You can spend years thinking about whether it’s worth it, if it’s too expensive, if you should take out a loan, but if you don’t act, nothing changes.

Taking action can be scary. It’s like standing at the edge of a pool, afraid to jump in. But once you do, you realize it wasn’t so bad. The same goes for life. The only way to see progress is to act, even if it’s just a small step.

Action is the foundational key to all success.

You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
