How to Live Your Own Life Without Regret or Guilt

We all want to feel good, to find that space where we truly belong. But how often do we stop and ask ourselves: Is this really my life, or am I just following a path someone else drew for me?
I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the workshops and methods I’ve created over the years. The ones that people love most are about efficiency, focus, and—no surprise—success. But there’s one that stands out: how to create a beautiful life. It’s popular because, deep down, so many of us feel we’re not living the life that truly fits us.
It’s a bit sad, isn’t it? Even when we think we love our lives, sometimes it’s not really the life that matches who we are. We often forget to listen to ourselves. Instead, we walk the path that was laid out for us—by our upbringing, by what our siblings did, or by the gentle (or not-so-gentle) pressure from parents and friends. We end up living close to where everyone else lives, doing what everyone else does, just because it feels easier.
But life is short. Why let it slip by, just because it’s what’s expected? Too often, we let other people’s wishes shape our days. Sometimes, we even buy things just to impress people we barely care about, simply because we feel the invisible weight of social pressure.
But here’s the truth: your life belongs to you. Sometimes, you need to move. Sometimes, you need to live somewhere new. If you’re not happy, don’t tell yourself, “Now’s not the right time. Maybe next year.” Don’t act as if time is unlimited. It’s not. Time is the most precious thing we have—not money, but time.

So use your time well. Do things you love. Create, build, and chase what excites you. You won’t regret it.
Right now, I’m looking out at the Harbour Bridge. From up here, everything looks tiny. That’s when you realize: your problems are just specks of dust in the universe. We blow things out of proportion—an argument, a worry—when, in reality, it’s nothing. Why waste your mental energy, your time, your peace of mind? Instead, clear out the clutter in your head. Flush it away, close the lid, and move on to the next chapter.
Life is right in front of you. The best thing you can do is to do things for yourself and grab the present moment. Now is all you have. If you want to start a big project, or a small one, or dream of living in French Polynesia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tokyo, British Columbia, California, or Costa Rica—anything is possible. If you really want it, you’ll always find a way. There will always be triggers and opportunities if you’re determined.
So why tell yourself, “Not now, it’s too risky”? Just do it.
Time is the most precious resource we have—not money, but time.
