Living freely and well is something most people want. At least, that’s what I’ve always wanted for myself: to have the freedom to design my days, to plan my mornings, afternoons, and evenings, and to manage my own time. It means organizing tasks, yes, but not being stuck in a regular 9-to-5 job—or worse, a job that eats up your entire day.
There was a time when I worked as a senior lead engineer. The pay was good, but my days stretched from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. When you add up all those hours, the salary didn’t seem so great after all. It’s easy to lose sight of how much time you’re giving away for money, and that’s something worth thinking about.
When you work less and earn more, you get a lifestyle that actually fits you. You become free to move wherever you want, to travel, to live in places that inspire you. Right now, I’m in Bangkok. Before that, I was in Malaysia, and before that, New Zealand. I even lived in Australia for years. The point is, we can all live a life that reflects who we are—a life we love, a life that excites us.
But here’s the catch: to live freely and well, you need money. Everything costs something. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does buy freedom. It gives you more time, because you can delegate tasks you aren’t good at or don’t want to do. It solves problems that would be much harder to handle alone. If you have money, you can pay professionals to fix things for you.

So, how do you make money? By selling what you know—your skills, your know-how. Think about why people call you or ask for your help. Maybe your friends or family already see you as the go-to person for something. It could be sports, motivation, coaching, IT, reading, or analyzing tricky problems. For example, my partner is great at understanding complex texts. When I was doing my master’s in data science, I’d sometimes struggle with the wording of assignments. She could read them and immediately tell me what the professor wanted, even if the instructions were vague.
Maybe that’s your thing too. Maybe you’re good at something others find hard. You could help people, or even create a course on how to analyze tough questions. Start by testing your idea—offer a course on Udemy, YouTube, or another platform. Little by little, you’ll get started.
But here’s the best advice I can give you: do one thing at a time. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Don’t let other influencers or people online distract you into trying too many things at once. Focus on one thing. If it doesn’t work, you can always switch or adjust. But focus pays off. When you know where to put your energy, when you finish what you start, you actually get things done.
If you start a video or a course and give up before publishing, you’ll never know if there’s a demand for it. You have to finish. You can start with marketing, or by running ads, depending on your product. Maybe your audience is on Instagram, or Google, or TikTok. It depends on your market and your message.
