Have you ever noticed how your mind races when you try to think about too many things at once? It’s like juggling hundreds of balls, and instead of feeling productive, you end up scattered, stressed, and not really getting anything done. I want to talk about the power of simple thinking—about focusing on just one thing at a time.

When you try to handle everything at once, your energy gets pulled in all directions. You might find yourself thinking about laundry, dishes, walking the dog, or preparing something else, all while your real projects—the things that truly matter to you—get pushed aside. These little distractions, these mental back-and-forths, can take over your mind and leave you feeling overwhelmed.

What if you made one thing your top priority? Imagine picking a single goal, making it your obsession, and letting everything else wait its turn. Suddenly, your mind becomes clearer. You know exactly what you’re working on, and your energy is focused. This is how you make real progress.

Meditation can help with this. It calms the mind and lets you clear out the mental clutter. Even if it’s hard at first, just telling yourself, “One thing at a time,” can make a huge difference. Sure, there’s always more to do, but that’s what to-do lists are for. Write everything down, then give your full attention to the most important task.

Sometimes, I put on noise-cancelling headphones to block out distractions. I focus on my project, enter a state of deep work, and let myself think about nothing else. When I finish, I reward myself—maybe with a coffee, a walk, or finally buying that book I’ve wanted for ages. Then, I move on to the next thing.

Right now, I’m living in Sydney, in a neighborhood that’s calm and helps me keep this focus. It’s all about doing one thing, then the next, and not letting your mind get hijacked by everything at once.
