Have you ever wondered who you really are, or what truly brings you joy? Many of us drift through life, caught in routines that feel more like existing than living. We go to work, maybe as freelancers or employees, run errands, and repeat the same habits day after day. But how often do we stop to ask ourselves if this is what we genuinely want?

Sometimes, we might think, “It’s not so bad,” but deep down, we sense that life could be more fulfilling. The real purpose of life is to be happy, to feel alive. There’s no reward in being unhappy, yet we often struggle to imagine a different way of living. We feel stuck, unsure of what else is possible, and that can be a little sad. After all, our time on earth is limited. Every moment lost is gone forever.

Think about it: doing the same job, following the same routine, and having the same habits for years on end—preparing dinner, watching TV, reading a little before bed—can feel like life is passing us by. There’s nothing wrong with routine, and it doesn’t matter if you’re 10, 20, 60, or 70 years old. It’s never too late to change your daily life or your lifestyle. Often, it doesn’t even cost much. Sometimes, all it takes is a train ticket, a plane ticket, or even just asking for unpaid leave. If you try something new and it doesn’t suit you, you can always go back. Nothing is set in stone.

We tend to think that once we make a decision, there’s no turning back. But that’s not true. You can always change your mind, whether it’s about your job, your relationship, or your lifestyle. If you leave a job, you can apply again. If you break up with someone, you might get back together. Life is full of second chances—except when it comes to time. Time lost is gone for good.

That’s why it’s so important to live many “mini-lives” within your own life. Try new experiences. If you dream of visiting Fiji, Dubai, Russia, Transylvania, Norway, Canada, Australia, or Japan, you can do it. Sometimes family or work makes it tricky, but there’s always a way. Maybe you need to tell everyone you’ll be away for a month. At work, people are often more understanding than you expect, especially if you frame it as a mission or a necessary trip. Sometimes, you might have to bend the truth a little to make it happen. If that’s the only way your loved ones will accept it, so be it. In the end, people tend to forget, or at least understand, especially if it was truly important to you. If they don’t, maybe they’re being selfish. If it matters to you, go for it.

Trying a new way of living can completely change your life. You’ll see things differently, feel differently, and maybe even discover a new version of yourself. Life is too short to always live the same way. That’s why it’s important to keep questioning yourself, no matter your age. Ask yourself what kind of life you really want, what experiences you want to try, and whether there’s another way to live that would make you happier. If you feel the urge to try something different, you can do it. Go for it—I believe in you.

The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that is changing quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks at all. — Mark Zuckerberg

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. — C.S. Lewis
