When I was a kid, I loved filming. I had a camera when I was about 12 or 13, one of those with the little tapes you had to insert. Later, I got another camera, and I remember taking it to Disneyland with my parents. I filmed the train and captured lots of scenes. I also went to Malta with my mom to visit my sister, and I filmed there too, even if the footage wasn’t great. Eventually, I upgraded to an HD camera with a hard drive. Now, I make videos regularly.
It’s funny to look back and realize that what I enjoyed as a child is still a big part of my life. There’s often a strong link between what you loved doing as a kid and what you find fulfilling as an adult. Of course, you do it in a more professional way now, with better tools and techniques. But the core of it remains the same. When you were young, you didn’t care about money or recognition. You simply enjoyed the activity for what it was. If you loved doing something as a child, chances are you’ll still love it as an adult.
I encourage you to think back to what you used to do between the ages of 8 and 13. Maybe you liked making animated films, or you were into video games. Today, there are so many ways to turn those interests into something meaningful. You could work in the gaming industry, stream your gameplay on Twitch, or even create music for video games if you also enjoy music. There are countless paths you can take, even if some are more challenging than others.

If you’re struggling to find your passion or a fulfilling activity, looking back at what you enjoyed as a child is a great place to start. At that age, you weren’t yet influenced by your classmates or society’s expectations. Your interests were pure and honest.
For me, the goal was never about making money from my childhood films. I just wanted to show them to others, maybe play them back on my camera. Now, I find myself loving video even more, and at some point, I had a real breakthrough. I realized that I’ve been doing this since I was much younger. Sometimes, the answers to what you should do next are hidden in your earliest memories.
