Have you ever stopped for a moment and asked yourself what truly excites you? Not just what you do for work, or what fills your schedule, but what actually makes you feel alive? Taking a step back from your daily routine, even for a few minutes, can help you see what really matters. It’s in these quiet moments that you might realize the importance of having a passion project—something that gives you butterflies, that makes you want to get up early, even on a Monday.

A passion project isn’t just a hobby. It’s something that pulls you out of bed at 5 or 6 in the morning, eager to spend even half an hour on it before the rest of your day begins. Over time, this small commitment can become a thread that runs through your entire life. Who knows? You might become an expert in your field, get invited to speak at events, or even turn your passion into your main job.

When you have a passion project, life feels brighter and more joyful. For me, programming is that spark. I love coding and have several open-source projects on GitHub. I’ve built content management systems and frameworks to make life easier for other developers. As a computer engineer, this is my world, but I always make time on weekends for my open-source work.

I also enjoy teaching. I create programming courses and tutorials on platforms like Udemy and YouTube. But my interests don’t stop there. I’m passionate about happiness, well-being, and personal growth, so I share what I learn through courses and videos on these topics too. I’ve even published two books, and writing has become another source of joy for me. Sometimes, I go on writing retreats—my last one was in Austria, tucked away in a little chalet, just writing and soaking in the peace. These moments are truly special.

Travel and photography are also close to my heart. I love sharing photos from my adventures, and I upload them to platforms like Unsplash so others can use them. Whether it’s a shot of Sydney or a quiet corner of a botanical garden, it feels good to spread a bit of happiness through my lens.

A passion project can also be about helping others. Maybe you want to support a cause, start a foundation, or donate your time and skills. Organizing meetups is another great way to connect with people who share your interests. For example, if you notice people in your town want to practice English, why not start a group? These projects can boost your confidence and make you proud of what you’re building. One day, your children or grandchildren might look back and feel proud of you too.

— Steve Jobs

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
— Dalai Lama

So, what’s your passion project? What’s that one thing that makes you feel truly alive? Take a moment to think about it. Your journey can start today.
