How to Find True Happiness Without Chasing Success

Many people spend their lives chasing after success. For some, this means becoming a millionaire, always aiming for the best degrees, the top jobs, or the most promising startups. The cycle never ends: get the best education, land the best job, build the best company, sell it for a fortune, then start all over again. The dream is to own several beautiful villas around the world and have more money than you could ever spend.
But in this endless race, something important often gets lost: actually enjoying life and feeling good every day.
What if we looked at success differently? For me, real success is about happiness and well-being in daily life. It’s about waking up in the morning without stress, knowing you have enough money to live comfortably and freely. It’s not about being able to eat at a restaurant every day or having a billion dollars sitting in your bank account. It’s about having enough to enjoy small pleasures and not worry about missing a meal or paying for healthcare if you get sick.
Having a financial cushion is important. Knowing that you could go a year without working and still cover your needs brings peace of mind. But you don’t need endless wealth or a millionaire status for that. Chasing after more and more money just for the sake of it doesn’t add much to your life.
So, how can you add more happiness to your life? Start by finding something you’re passionate about that you can also turn into a source of income. Maybe it’s teaching, offering services, or coaching. For example, I sell my courses on a platform called Podia. While it’s not always easy to make a lot of money this way, it allows me to focus on what I enjoy, rather than competing for the highest number of students or five-star reviews.

For me, success is about well-being, not numbers. It’s not about having the most students or the highest ratings. It’s about living a good life with freedom and peace of mind.
Another way to increase happiness is to consider living in a place where the cost of living is lower but the quality of life remains high. Some countries in Asia, Latin America, or Eastern Europe offer a good balance. For example, I really enjoyed my time in Latvia. The people were friendly, and the cost of living was reasonable. Other safe and affordable countries include Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, and Poland. These places can offer a comfortable lifestyle without the stress of high expenses.
Estonia, for example, is especially welcoming to digital nomads. You can even set up a business there and manage it online, thanks to their digital identity system. This gives you access to government services and banking, making it easier to run your business from anywhere.
The key is to focus on what truly brings you joy and peace, rather than chasing after society’s idea of success. Find your own path, and let happiness be your measure of achievement.
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
