When was the last time you truly challenged yourself? Not just going through the motions, but setting a real challenge that made you feel alive? Pushing yourself, even just a little, changes everything. Creating your own challenges, even small ones, adds a spark to your days. It’s like adding a pinch of salt or a dash of spice to an otherwise bland routine.

This is what keeps us going. Having a long-term project, or even a few short-term ones lined up for the coming months, can make your Saturday mornings feel exciting and full of purpose. Imagine waking up at 6 a.m. on a Saturday, not because you have to, but because you’re eager to work on a project you set for yourself, with a clear deadline in three weeks. That’s real excitement.

But if you have nothing on your plate, your Saturday morning might look very different. You wake up at 6, but there’s nothing pulling you out of bed, so you go back to sleep. You get up at 8, eat something, and before you know it, it’s noon and half your day is gone. The day starts off wrong, and it’s hard to get back on track.

We all need projects. That’s why, sadly, many people in retirement homes often lose their spark after the holidays. Once their loved ones have visited and left, they’re left with a long stretch of time and not much to look forward to. It’s a tough truth, but without real reasons to live, without something to anticipate, life can feel empty. Many wait a whole year just to see their family again, and in the meantime, they feel alone. It’s often after the holidays, in January or February, that some simply give up.

We all need reasons to live. That’s what keeps us going, makes us happy, and even helps us live longer. So yes, you need projects that excite you, that make you want to get up in the morning. Even reading books can be a source of stimulation. Maybe the book isn’t the most thrilling, but just the act of reading keeps your mind awake. That’s what I wish for you, and what I suggest you do. You’ll see, it makes all the difference.

From the bottom of my heart, I’m with you. The best time to do great things is today. You have to make those great things happen, and I’m cheering you on all the way. If you want to go even further in your daily growth and improvement, I’ve put together resources that can help you. Remember, life is the most precious resource we have. Time is unique and once it’s gone, you can never get it back. Even losing ten minutes is a loss you can’t recover. So now is the time to take action and move forward.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.

— Chinese Proverb

Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Create projects, find what excites you, and give yourself reasons to wake up with energy. That’s what you deserve, and that’s what I wish for you. I believe in you. The best moment is now. Take action.
