Have you ever noticed how sometimes happiness feels out of reach? We push through our days, feeling frustrated or stuck, thinking we need a big change—a vacation, a break, or even a whole new environment. But what if happiness could be found in much simpler ways?

Recently, after a long and challenging day filled with work pressure and endless tasks, I found myself sitting at a café in Dalinsquare, Sydney. The city lights were twinkling in the trees, giving the place a magical feel, almost like being in a Disney movie. It struck me how important it is to create moments of calm and wonder in our lives, even if it’s just by enjoying a coffee on a terrace.

We all need to dream a little, to find ourselves in peaceful and relaxing spaces. Without these moments, life can feel like a constant race, leaving us tense and overwhelmed. Sometimes, all it takes is to pause, sit down, and ask yourself: What do I really want to do today? What would make me feel fulfilled right now?

For me, that day, inspiration came from a simple idea. I decided to start building an app that lets you take photos of everything you eat and drink—your coffee, your cereal, your salad, even your beer or cider. Why? Because most of us have no idea what we actually consume over weeks, months, or years. If I told you I ate ten kilos of fries in the last three years, you might not believe me, but it’s possible. We just don’t track these things.

If you try to remember how many coffees you’ve had in the past three weeks, you probably can’t. But if you take a photo of each one, you can count them, see patterns, and maybe even improve your habits. This isn’t just about diet; it’s about understanding how what we eat and drink affects our mood, our focus, and even how we react to stress. Sometimes, feeling irritable or low is linked to what we put in our bodies—too much sugar, for example.

Tracking your food and drinks, even privately and securely, can help you see the bigger picture. Over a year, two years, or even a decade, you’ll have real data about your habits. This can help you make better choices and even give your doctor useful information. As the saying goes, too much of anything is bad for your health. Eating fries or fast food once in a while won’t hurt you, but making it a habit will.

This project excites me. It gives me energy and a sense of purpose. Having a passion project, no matter how small, can lift your spirits and fill your days with positive energy. I plan to make this app open source, starting today. It’s March 20th, and I’m about to write the first line of code. I’m curious to see how long it will take to finish the first version.

But beyond projects and plans, the real lesson is to live in the present. Time flies—one moment it’s March, the next you realize you’re forty years old. Often, this happens because we’re not truly present. We go through the motions without really being there, either with ourselves or with our loved ones.

So, I invite you to ask yourself: Am I really here, right now? Or am I just physically present, but my mind is elsewhere? This simple question can help you reconnect with the present moment and make the most of your time.
