How to Find Everyday Joy Without Waiting for the Right Moment

There’s something magical about the end-of-year holidays. Streets light up, people gather, and there’s a feeling in the air that invites us to celebrate. But what if we didn’t need a special occasion to enjoy life? What if feeling good, celebrating, and truly living could be part of our everyday routine?
Today, I’m sitting in a small café in Mascot, not far from Sydney airport. The sun is shining, and I can’t help but think how easy it is to feel good when you let yourself enjoy the simple things. That’s really what life is about: enjoying what you do, loving what you have, and celebrating the little moments.
When you feel good, when you’re happy, everything else seems to fall into place. The real secret is to do things that make you happy, things that fill you up and give you more positive energy. The more you do what you love, the more you’ll find yourself living the life you dream of—the life you deserve.
I’m about to head to a café called Brown Café. It’s a beautiful day, and I want to soak it all in. Sometimes, it’s as simple as that: taking a walk, enjoying a coffee, and letting yourself be present.
But here’s something I’ve noticed: too often, we live lives that aren’t really ours. We follow paths chosen for us—maybe by our families, maybe by society. We go to the same schools as our siblings, take similar jobs, and stay close to home out of habit or convenience. Before we know it, we’re living someone else’s idea of a good life.

I’ve been lucky. My parents never pressured me to follow a certain path. They just wanted me to be happy. But I know that’s not the case for everyone. Even the most loving parents can put pressure on their kids without realizing it. It’s not their fault—it’s just the way they were raised. It’s a kind of invisible rule, a paradigm that shapes our choices.
But what if you could lift that veil? What if you could see that there are many ways to live, and that you get to choose? Our culture, our country, our families—all these things shape us, but they don’t have to define us.
I’ve lived in many places—Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland. Each place has its own rhythm, its own way of seeing life. Right now, I’m in Sydney, but soon I’ll move to Melbourne. I’ve lived in Adelaide, Cairns, London, Manchester, Dublin, Wellington, Auckland, Queenstown… Each move was a chance to choose my own path, to do what felt right for me.
What I love most about Australia is the respect people have for each other. People speak softly, listen to the birds, and enjoy nature. It’s a place where you can just be yourself.
Here, summer starts in December. While Europe is bundling up for winter, we’re getting ready for long, sunny days. It’s a reminder that life can be different, depending on where you are and how you choose to live.
So, here’s my wish for you: do what makes you happy. Don’t let social or family pressure decide your path. Make a list—a bucket list—of things you want to do. Set real, concrete goals. Ask yourself: what can I do this week, every day for one hour, that will make a difference in my life? If you spend just one hour a day on something that matters to you, imagine where you’ll be in three weeks.
The point of life is to be happy, to feel good, and to do what brings you joy. I believe in you 100%. Go for it. I know you can do it.
