How to Feel Better Every Day Without Changing Who You Are

Feeling good every day is something I think about a lot. Maybe too much, but I can’t help it. Happiness and well-being are at the heart of everything I do and talk about. Just this morning, I was chatting with a friend who told me he doesn’t like his job, his apartment, or even his life in general. He’s tired of it all.

I asked him why he stays stuck when I know his dream is to live in Bali. He’s a developer, which means he writes code and builds software. His job could easily be done from anywhere. Yet, he’s still going to an office he doesn’t like, with colleagues he doesn’t connect with, and he hasn’t had a raise in two years.

I told him, “Why not just leave? Apply somewhere else. It’s not as hard as you think.” There are so many websites for remote work now. You can find a better offer, work from anywhere, and finally live the life you want. Imagine working from Bali, or maybe somewhere else that excites you. Picture yourself swimming in the ocean before starting your day.

There are even nomad villages in places like Madeira and Portugal. These are real communities of people who work online—digital nomads. Some are virtual assistants, others are graphic designers, developers, or freelancers in all kinds of fields. Whether you work on the front-end (CSS, HTML, React, Angular) or the back-end, you can choose your own adventure.

You get to travel, live wherever you want, and shape your lifestyle. You can try new foods, discover new hobbies, and sometimes the cost of living is much lower than where you are now. If you land a remote job with a company based in the US, Canada, or Europe, your salary might be much higher than your expenses. That means you could live in a beautiful villa, enjoy life to the fullest, and still do work you love.

Think about it. Life is too short not to enjoy it. There’s never a perfect time to make a change. It’s now or never.

“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”
— Oprah Winfrey

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.”
— John D. Rockefeller
