How to Create Real Value Without Building a Startup

When we talk about creating value, it’s not just about launching a business or inventing the next big thing. Value can come from many places: teaching, sharing your skills, coaching, or even passing on knowledge. Sometimes, it’s about building a product, like a SaaS tool or an app. Lately, I’ve been developing several apps with React Native, and if you’re a bit tech-savvy, you might know what I mean.
But here’s the real point: you can create value even if you have a regular job. Imagine waking up an hour or two earlier in the morning, or setting aside some time in the evening. Personally, I recommend mornings. That’s when your energy is highest, your dopamine levels are up, and you’re most ready to build something meaningful.
What happens when you start creating value? Over time, you develop expertise. You start a movement, even if it’s just a small one. And let’s be honest, you never know how long your current job will last. Maybe you’ll get tired of it, or maybe burnout will hit. That’s why it’s so important to build something for yourself, something that belongs to you for the long run. It makes all the difference.

Having your own side business or project lets you grow your skills and build your personal brand. Think about it like cryptocurrencies. People buy Ethereum or Bitcoin, but there are so many other coins out there. Why do some people choose one over another? Sometimes it’s just a feeling. Maybe you like the logo, the name, or the story behind it. It’s the same with brands. You buy one cereal over another because you connect with it. You’re not just paying for the product, you’re buying into the image and the story.
That’s exactly what you should do with your expertise and your side project. Offer something unique. Over time, this will set you apart.
If you want to go even further, start today. If it’s morning, use that time now. If it’s evening, set aside an hour. Do this every day. I suggest two hours a day. After a year, two years, or three years, you’ll have that “aha” moment. Three years is often when things really click, unless you put in more than two hours a day, in which case you’ll get there faster. But two hours is enough. If you try to do more, you might end up putting things off, and if you skip a day, it’s easier to break the habit. Two hours a day, every day, will have a powerful effect over time.
I truly believe you can do it. Start now, and you’ll see the difference.
