How to Create a Sanctuary of Well-Being Without Moving House

When we talk about well-being, we often think about routines, habits, or maybe even diets. But what about the space around us? The place where you feel truly at ease, where you can breathe and just be yourself. That’s what I want to talk about: creating your own sanctuary of well-being.
I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the workshops I’ve created, seeing which ones people love most. It’s always the ones about efficiency, focus, and success that get the most attention. But there’s another workshop that stands out—one about building a beautiful life. It’s popular because, deep down, many of us feel we’re not really living the life that fits us. Even if we think we’re happy, sometimes it’s not the life we truly want.
Why is that? Too often, we follow a path that was laid out for us—by our upbringing, by what our siblings did, or by the pressure to fit in with friends. We end up living close to where everyone else lives, doing what everyone else does, just because it feels safe or expected. Sometimes, it’s the pressure from parents or classmates, or just the comfort of not standing out.
But life is short. Why let it slip by? Why let other people’s choices evaporate your own dreams? Sometimes, we even buy things just to impress people we barely care about, simply because we feel that invisible pressure to fit in.
But your life belongs to you. If you’re not happy where you are, don’t wait for the “right” moment to make a change. The right moment is now. Time isn’t unlimited. It’s the most precious thing you have—not money, but time. Use it well. Do things you love, things that make you proud. Those are the things you’ll never regret.

Right now, I’m looking out at the Harbour Bridge. From up here, everything looks so small. That’s when you realize your problems are just specks of dust in the universe. We blow things out of proportion, argue with people, and waste energy on things that don’t matter. Why spend your mental energy and time on that? Instead, clear out that mental clutter. Flush it away, close the lid, and move on to the next chapter.
Life is right in front of you. The best thing you can do is create and achieve things for yourself. Grab the moment—this moment, right now. Life is here, and you can do anything you want. Whether it’s a big project or a small one, whether you dream of living in French Polynesia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Japan, British Columbia, California, or Costa Rica—anything is possible if you really want it. If you want it badly enough, you’ll always find a way. There will always be triggers and opportunities if you’re open to them.
So, why wait? Don’t tell yourself, “Now’s not the right time.” If you feel the urge, do it.
Time is the most precious resource we have—not money, but time.
