How to Build Your Own Dreams Without Regret

We all have dreams, but how many of us actually take the steps to build and live them? The truth is, the regrets that haunt us most are not about what we did, but about the dreams we never dared to chase. If you don’t make your dreams a priority, you might find yourself looking back one day, wishing you had.

It’s important to always have dreams in progress. If you’ve already achieved everything on your list, you might start to feel bored or even a bit down. Life loses its spark when there’s nothing left to strive for. That’s why it’s essential to keep moving forward, to always have a new project or dream on the horizon.

One practical way to do this is to keep a list of projects you want to accomplish—think of it as your personal bucket list. This list isn’t just for fun; it’s your roadmap for the life you want to design. The key is to know your priorities. Ask yourself: What is my number one priority right now? Which project comes before everything else?

Often, we tell ourselves we can’t pursue a dream because of money, time, or other reasons. But if something truly is your top priority, you’ll find a way. You might cut unnecessary expenses, cancel subscriptions, or even move to a smaller apartment or a cheaper country for a while. If you work from home, you could save on commuting costs or even sell your car. The same goes for time: if your dream is really your priority, it should come first.

It’s also important to be honest about what matters most. Is your main priority your steady job, or is it time to make your dream project number one? Your top priority should always come before everything else.

Having side projects is just as valuable. Beyond your main job or freelance work, having a side project gives you something to look forward to and helps you grow. Even if you only work on it for 10 or 30 minutes a day, those small steps add up. For example, writing a chapter, recording a short video, or creating a mini-course can all be broken down into daily chunks. After a week, those 10 minutes a day become over an hour. After a month, you’ve put in five hours—enough to make real progress.

The secret is consistency. When you work on your project every day, you’re much less likely to give up. The real danger is breaking the chain. Once you stop, it becomes much harder to start again. It’s like going back to work on Monday after the weekend—it always feels tougher after a break. The longer the interruption, the harder it is to get back into the rhythm.

So, my advice is simple: have projects, keep moving forward, and take action now. There’s no better time than today. Life is too short not to savor it fully and go after what truly matters to you.
