Motivation is the fuel that gets us started—whether it’s launching a new project, investing money, or simply investing in ourselves. But what if motivation doesn’t come naturally? What if you wake up on a Saturday morning, planning to go to the market, invest, buy a book, or just clean your home, and you just can’t get out of bed? The alarm rings, it’s 8, 9, 10, even 11 a.m., and you’re still under the covers, feeling like nothing is going right.
How do you break out of this slump? How do you manufacture motivation and positive energy when you feel stuck? Here’s how I do it—and how you can too.
Set the Mood: Your Environment Matters
The simplest way to boost motivation is to create the right atmosphere. Think about how you feel when you walk into a nightclub or a stylish bar—the music, the vibe, the energy. Or when you go to the cinema, the soundtrack lifts your spirits, and you leave feeling inspired. But as soon as you get home, that feeling fades.
The trick is to keep that vibe going. It’s all about chemistry—your brain responds to the environment you create. I have a speaker at home, and I play music that inspires me: soundtracks from movies, video games, or even the kind of upbeat tracks you hear in bars or stores. Retailers use music to put you in a good mood and encourage you to buy. You can use the same trick to motivate yourself to take action.
Prime Yourself Before You Start
What you do before a task sets the tone for what comes after. Tony Robbins, for example, has a ritual before going on stage—he gets into a specific mood, a chosen state of mind, to boost his energy and motivation. It might look odd, but it’s about changing your physiology and body language. Stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself: “Today is going to be an exceptional day. I will succeed in everything I do. I’ll be proud of myself.” These positive affirmations make action much easier.
Remove Friction: Make Action Easy
The less effort it takes to start something, the more likely you are to do it. For example, I sometimes sleep in my workout clothes so I can get up and go straight to the gym. If you work in a city, many buildings have gyms on the ground floor. You can go straight there before heading to the office. If not, even having a mini trampoline next to your bed can help—jumping on it for a few minutes in the morning gets you excited and ready to move.
Habits are great, but even with good habits, motivation can fade. That’s why it’s important to remove as many obstacles as possible. Set up your workspace the night before, lay out your clothes, automate anything you can.

Let There Be Light
Light changes everything. If you wake up in a dark room, it’s hard to get moving. Automate your blinds, or get a sunrise lamp that mimics the effect of the sun rising. It makes waking up much easier, especially if your bedroom doesn’t get much natural light. These small changes can have a huge impact on your mood and motivation.
Your Environment Shapes You
The people and things around you have a huge impact on your motivation. If your home is cluttered and messy, it’s harder to feel good and get things done. I prefer a minimalist space—less stuff, less mess, more peace of mind. Think of the supermarket as your storage space, not your home. If you have two things that do the same job, keep the best one and let go of the rest.
The only limits that exist are the ones we set for ourselves in our minds. Everything is possible. If you really want it, you’ll always find a way.

Your Vision: Be Your Own Hero
Don’t compare yourself to others—you only see their outside, not what’s really going on. Compare yourself to your own future self. My hero is me, ten years from now. Every day, I do something that brings me closer to that version of myself. Your vision is your guide, and it doesn’t have to be crystal clear. What matters is that you keep moving toward it, step by step.
Success isn’t about chasing after something outside of yourself. It’s about changing your mindset and transforming yourself. If you let limiting beliefs hold you back, you’ll move slower. But if you break through those barriers, you’ll open doors you never knew existed.
If you want something, it’s yours for the taking. Everything is possible if you truly want it.
Don’t compare your inside to someone else’s outside.

Know Yourself (and Don’t Be Afraid to Change)

Sometimes we do things that aren’t really us, just because of our surroundings or the people around us. Your environment and the people you spend time with shape your vision and your motivation. That’s why it’s so important to create a space that lifts you up, not drags you down.
If you want to feel good and stay motivated, keep your space clean and simple. Don’t fill your home with things you don’t need. Remember, the supermarket is your storage, not your living room.
