Positivity is not just a feel-good word. When you focus on something positive, your mind instantly brings up a positive image. This message goes straight to your brain and lifts your mood. If you do this seriously and truly believe in it, you will feel better—calmer, lighter, and genuinely at peace.

The reason is simple: our brains do not really distinguish between reality and imagination. When you recall a happy memory or focus on a positive thought, your brain reacts as if it is happening right now. You feel the benefits in your body and mind. This is a powerful exercise, yet most of us do not practice it enough. But it can make a real difference in your daily life.

Try this: every day, take a moment to remember a great memory or imagine something positive. Even if it feels a bit odd at first, keep at it. Day after day, you will notice a real improvement in how you feel.

You can make this even more effective by adding a simple breathing exercise. I like the 4-4-4 method: inhale through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, then exhale through your mouth for four seconds. Do this five or six times in a row, once, twice, or even three times a day. You will feel calmer, more relaxed, and ready to face whatever comes your way.

As you practice this, you might start to notice things around you that inspire you. Maybe you see a cozy corner in a café and think, “I’d love to have something like that at home.” You start to imagine ways to improve your own space, to make it more comfortable and welcoming. Bit by bit, you adapt your environment and improve your well-being.

Having at least one moment of well-being each day is so important. I know this from experience. There was a time when I was working non-stop—lead engineer, manager, student, and juggling other part-time activities. I barely had time for my family, my partner, or even myself. Studying for a master’s in data science was rewarding, but it was also stressful, with constant deadlines and pressure. I forgot how to relax, to take time off, to recharge.

But when you allow yourself moments of rest, you recharge your batteries. You come back stronger, ready to reach the next level. That is what I wish for you.

If you want to go further, remember this: the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second-best time is now. If you plant it today, in twenty years you will have a beautiful tree. The same goes for your personal growth. If you start taking care of yourself today, in twenty years you will be the person you want to become.

To get there, set a clear goal and a deadline. Maybe once a week, look back and see what went well and what could be better. You can even rate your day or week from 0 to 20. This is how you improve, little by little.

And remember: if the journey is beautiful, you do not worry about where it leads. But if it is unpleasant, you end up just enduring life. Do not just endure—take action and shape your own path.

If the journey is beautiful, you do not ask where it leads. — Anatole France
