Walking is one of those simple pleasures that often gets overlooked. Yet, it’s a habit that can do so much more than just get your body moving. When you make walking a part of your daily routine, you’re not only taking care of your health, but you’re also giving yourself space to step back and reflect on your life.
Personally, I love starting my mornings with a walk. As soon as I wake up, I head out for a short stroll. Right now, I’m walking through the city, but ideally, I prefer the nature around my neighborhood. Being surrounded by trees and fresh air is the perfect environment to feel good and to think clearly. Before my walk, I always tackle my most important task of the day. Then, I head out. Most days, I also practice intermittent fasting, which means I don’t eat breakfast and wait until around 1 or 1:30 pm to have my first meal. This isn’t for everyone, but it works well for me. If you prefer, you can bring your breakfast along in your backpack and enjoy it in a park. That can be a great way to start your day, especially if you’re heading to work.
If you have a job, you can fit a walk in before heading to the office. Or, if your commute allows, you can walk part of the way and use public transport or your car for the rest. Even splitting your journey like this helps you get some fresh air and a change of pace.
