Many people underestimate the power of a good morning routine. For me, daily hygiene is not just about cleanliness, but about setting the right tone for the day. There are mornings when I haven’t slept enough or I struggle to wake up, even though I try to go to bed and get up at the same time. Life happens, and sometimes it’s just not possible.

That’s why taking a shower in the morning is so important. It wakes you up, makes you feel fresh, and gives you a sense of starting anew. This isn’t just about being clean; it’s about your whole approach to life. You might think, “Isn’t it obvious? Why make a big deal out of taking a shower?” But here’s the thing—many people shower at night, and I do that too sometimes. After a long day, especially if you live in a big city like Paris or Brussels, you feel the pollution on your skin. It feels good to wash it all off before getting into bed, so you can sleep feeling clean.

But if you don’t live in a big, polluted city—say, you’re in Adelaide, Sydney, or even London (which, by the way, is apparently very polluted because of the fog)—the feeling is different. You might not feel as dirty in the evening. Still, there’s something about a morning shower that changes everything. Even if you don’t want a full shower, just freshening up your body can make a big difference.

Another great way to start the day is to put on your sneakers and head straight to the gym. After a workout, you can take a shower there. Most gyms have showers, sinks, and shampoo. Sometimes you need to bring your own towel, but it’s simple. It might sound basic, but these small habits are what set you up for a great day.

The setting includes a golden, flaky croissant placed on a black bamboo placemat, accompanied by a cup of frothy cappuccino in a deep brown ceramic mug. To the left, a white plate holds a serving of yogurt topped with dark berry jam. Next to the plate, there is an elegant glass of water with a decorative stem. A folded pink napkin with a wavy pattern rests beside the glass. Additionally, two whole passion fruits and a silver spoon complete the composition. Starting your day on the right foot is about more than just hygiene. It’s about giving yourself a fresh start, every single morning. When you wake up and do something good for yourself, like taking a cold shower or moving your body, you’re ready to take on whatever comes your way. You’ll notice that your whole day feels different. You’re more energized, more focused, and more ready to excel at whatever you want to achieve.

Sometimes you wake up with a headache or just not feeling your best. That’s not how you want to start your day. So, give yourself the best chance by building a simple, positive morning routine. It’s the best way to begin everything you need to do.

A beautiful life is simply a collection of beautiful days.

Life is too short to spend your mornings feeling groggy, unwell, or struggling to wake up. Get up, take a shower, go for a walk, or hit the gym. These small actions change everything. I wish you all the best in building your own beautiful mornings, because a great day is the first step to a great life.

I had just gotten these little stencil cutouts to play with so I went a little crazy. Banana really is the perfect breakfast topping though. How a Simple Morning Ritual Sets You Up for Success - Photo by Maddi Bazzocco on Unsplash
